Don't Feed Da Pigeons 2024
"Don't Feed Da Pigeons" is a work in progress that has been a focal point in my creative choreography and theatre. Pigeons are the most populated bird found everywhere. They are seen everywhere and are often ignored or viewed as a nuisance and "shooed away" much like those who may be viewed as
homeless, disabled, unwanted. However Pigeons no matter how much you become annoyed with them and try to be rid of them, they come back with resilience, time and time again. My exploration of Pigeons is really about different vignettes or snapshots that really are a reflection of our treatment of others and perhaps a deep rooted need we all have to find community and connections of care and dignity towards each other.
In Version 3 of Don't feed da Pigeons, a greedy realtor addresses the need to dominate housing market while being a model slumlord. This work in progress is a way to explore impacts of social housing in a climate where we are seeing the threat of being unhoused, while living with the impacts of inflation.
